Today I want to talk about accountability. My fitness journey has been full of ups and downs. I have a real issue with consistency, and it has come to my attention that this is because I have no accountability (other than my own willpower, which sometimes leaves little to be desired!!).
I’ve recently taken steps to increase my accountability by going public with my journey, both on this blog and on social media. I also have a coach that is there to keep me on track – so I am going all in right now!
How do you think that accountability helps you?
I think that for me, personally, by talking openly about my experience with my physical health, and how that also effects my mental health, I feel a responsibility to both myself and to those following my journey to carry on!
Accountability can come in many forms, so it is important to do what works for you. Not everyone wants to post about their bodies for the world to see – and that is absolutely fine! You do you, it’s all about you getting yourself to a healthy place, so however you get there isn’t super important.
Here are some forms of accountability:
- Have a workout/healthy eating buddy.
- Join a workout class or zoom class.
- Post on social media.
- Write a meal plan and pin it to your fridge.
- Talk about what you are working towards openly with others.
- Commit to a workout/meal plan so that you can see the end in sight!
Whether you are starting out on your fitness journey or you need a gentle push to get back on track then this is your sign to do something about it!
Find something that you enjoy doing for exercise and then go all in on your accountability.
