I like to be busy. It helps me keep my anxiety at bay and I guess it is a way to use that energy for something more productive. I have a lot on my plate at the moment; a degree to study for, a blog to write, a business to build, a podcast to create, mental health issues to contend with, fitness training, a loving boyfriend who deserves at least some of my attention (I don’t envy him sometimes!!), family and friends to support and be there for.
It’s a lot.
But… it’s all mine and for the first time in a long time, I am really proud of what I am doing and what I am achieving. I am being challenged and I am learning new things and I am excited about the future. That is a big deal for me. However, with so much going on, sometimes it’s difficult to turn off and truly relax.
This weekend I spent away. No laptop. No textbooks. No to-do list. Just me and a friend that I haven’t seen in a long time. Drinks, laughter, and chatting. I was truly relaxed and now I feel rejuvenated and ready to get stuck back into all the busy work!!
I have a lot of stuff to do but that doesn’t mean that taking time out shouldn’t become part of my to-do list. It’s so important that we all take time out of our day to take a moment for ourselves.
Take the full hour for lunch.
Put down your phone.
Talk to the people you love.
Start a new hobby.
Have a cold gin & tonic in the sun.
Be your best self.
You have got this, you are awesome. We all have the ability to create the lives that we want but we have to remember to keep living in the meantime. Know the bigger picture but don’t forget about the incredible moments that make up life.
